DfT has announced that schemes prioritised under the Regional Funding Allocation process, but where contracts have yet to be signed, are under financial review. The 62 schemes concerned include:
- Sunderland New Wear Bridge
- Sunderland Central Route
- A1056 Northern Gateway (North Tyneside)
- Tyne & Wear Bus Corridors Phase 1 (Nexus)
- Morpeth Northern Bypass (Northumberland)
However, two North East schemes are still going ahead:
- Tees Valley Bus Network Improvements
- Tyne and Wear Metro
Cuts to local authority transport grants for current year include £17.2M Road Safety capital grant, £20.6M Road Safety revenue grant and £5M Kickstart 2009 funding.
